We’ve all made mistakes in our work. But if you’re a doctor, the consequences can be deadly. Dr George Fernie is now asking some sympathy for doctors that made mistakes. Often a medical mistake is not only a doctors fault, but it is in the lack of communication in a hospital. In the end the doctor is the only one blamed for the damage! About 850.000 people are victims of missed diagnoses and medical mistakes, says NHS (medical advisor). This is not only causing lots of suffering and grief but also a lot of money. Most people want an apology and money. And this is not the only thing the consequences for doctors are huge. They might be suspended, dismissed, taken to court, pressed for criminal charges and their license can be taken away. This is not the right way to encourage doctors to go back to work and make up what they did wrong, isn’t it?
I think it is horrible that doctors are treated this way. Making mistakes is human, and doctors are too. Of course it is awful when a patient dies of a medical mistake, but this is not a crime! Taking a doctor to court and ask for assurance is not the way to make the mistake disappear. The doctor is probably already shocked and feeling sorry, and because of that not sure of themselves. I think they are having enough trouble forgiving themselves. Of course their should be an investigation so that families and other will know what went wrong be let’s just leave it with that. I am sure there are cases in which doctors need some kind of ‘punishment’, but I think we should not take out so hard on them.

Woman turned away with lingerie
A Brazilian woman was turned away at Newcastle Airport because she carried luggage which only contained t-shirts, a dressing gown and lingerie. They were suspicious because the woman could not explain why she was visiting England. When they checked her passport, they found out she was turned away at Belfast City Airport three months earlier. They had checked her luggage there too and found several sexual paraphernalia and information about escort agencies and sex websites. They now suspect this woman of being involved in the sex industry.
I do not really know what to think of this. It is kind of strange to refuse someone because they think the person has something to do with the sex industrie. Other people (famous people) in that bussiness are allowed to fly to other countries right? So the woman should have thought of a good reason to come visit England, and then everything would have been all right. If the only reason for refusing her is, that she did not have a proper reason to come to England, than why is it all over the paper.
